Phantasms Character Interviews: Kolby Byrd
Rikke mentioned the interviews in one of her posts. I am just now getting around to posting it now. This first one is Kolby Byrd.
As part of our newest project, tentatively called Phantasm, we will be interviewing the cast of characters that will be appearing in the stories. Each story is an independent story, but the same cast.
Today we have Kolby Byrd with us. Welcome, Kolby!
KB: Thank you.
AF: We are glad you are here tonight. You are our first guest, so you get to be our Guinea pig.
KB: I hope that is a good thing.
AF: Time will tell.
KB: That makes me feel sooo much better.
AF: Don’t worry, we can’t hurt you any more than we already have.
KB: I hope that is true.
AF: So, Kolby, we are going to start with some warm up questions, just some basic stuff, to get the ball rolling.
KB: Sure, go ahead.
AF: It’ll be fine! First off, I would like for you to tell us a little about your involvement in this project.
KB: Sure. I got recruited after the initial two parts were cast.
AF: Otis and Junior.
KB: Yes, I came on after them. They had already worked together on a couple of abandoned projects and kind of new each other some, so it was a little intimidating to try to come in after that.
AF: Was it hard to come on board with a couple of folks that were already close?
KB: A little, but Otis was great right off the bat, very warm and friendly. Junior is a little more standoffish, but I think it is more because he wants to be seen as a professional, not just some random talent.
He’s not a bad guy at all, just harder to get to know.
AF: Tell us about your family. How many siblings do you have? What are your parents like?
KB: Nothing as bad as in the one with the serial killer. I would say my upbringing was pretty unremarkable, though maybe closer to the werewolf parents than any of the others. They are not completely understanding about everything.
AF: What is something you would like to learn?
KB: There are lots of things (laughs and rubs his hands on his jeans clad thighs) I have been trying to learn how to play the guitar, but isn’t that something everyone wants to learn?
AF: Who is your favorite cast member and why?
KB: Wow, that’s kind of tough. I really like just about everyone, though I have to admit that Junior is almost as uptight as his characters. But, if I have to choose, I would say Otis. He’s is really just as sweet as a person can be and still try to act like a hard ass. But, you have to look out; he is not above a practical joke or two. He decided I was gullible pretty quickly and has been determined to see just how many pranks I’ll fall for.
AF: Are you?
KB: Gullible? Yeah, well, I didn’t think I was, but he has a knack for finding new ways to trick me.
AF: Are there any funny stories your family tells about you that come to mind?
KB: There was the time I leaped off the roof as a child because I thought I was superman. I was wearing nothing but a costume cape and a pair of superman underwear. I guess maybe I was a little gullible as a kid. I remember my brother telling me that it would work.
I only broke a couple bones, so it wasn’t too bad.
AF: Do you believe in love at first site?
KB: Nothing so romantic. Hahaha I believe in lust at first sight, but not love. Not at all.
AF: What is your favorite color?
KB: Green. Like that deep forest green, not chartreuse or anything.
AF: What is your favorite kind of monster?
KB: Probably vampires. I loved the Anne Rice Lestat novels when I was a kid. I can’t tell you how many times I read those books.
AF: Which story so far is your favorite?
KB: So far, my favorite story is the one with the werewolf in the well prank.
AF: Son of the Moon?
KB: Yes, that one is really very much me and Otis just being ourselves. I love that one.
AF: Which is your least favorite so far?
KB: The zombie story is not my favorite. I feel like I was just really useless in that one, just dragged along for the ride. Frankly, I would be zombie food fast.
AF: Which future story are you looking forward to the most?
KB: Casting has not been completed for one that is about a deep space colony, but I am really hoping to be in that one.
AF: Good luck with that! Thank you for your time, Kolby, we look forward to seeing you in these stories.
KB: Thank you. I’m happy to be here.
